Socks and compression stockings can be challenging to put on; especially when recovering from surgery or an injury, for pregnant women, and for those of us with a bad back, hip, knees, or ankle.

As a sock aid, the device is designed to help slip larger socks over the foot without bending, overextending or struggling to grip. For socks, the plastic is quite inflexible and provides a smooth, large surface for sliding into socks. The sock aid is particularly helpful for people with limited flexibility of the foot.

In terms of use as a compression stocking aid, the device helps to slide the compression stocking over the foot and ankle, helping with the end range of motion. However, reaching is required to pull the compression stocking up, particularly for high pressure compression stockings. Whilst the device is quite inflexible for socks, the pressure of compression stockings does narrow the device. Please refer to the video to the left for a demonstration on how this compression stocking aid works.

Once the sock is placed over the plastic gutter, the foot can then slip into the sock. The thick foam handles of the sock and compression stocking aid provide a comfortable hold, and the contoured lip ensures the sock or compression stocking is pulled up without catching or digging into the skin. The slip-resistant cuff helps to prevent socks and compression stockings from sliding off while donning.

  • Smooth and flat design
  • Slip-resistant foam cuff
  • Adjustable ropes with button adjustment up to 83cm
  • Latex and BPA free

The sock and compression stocking aid comes as a recommended tool to help put socks on and as a temporary tool for compression socks. Overall, the sock and compression stocking aid makes the donning process a little quicker and easier, without placing unnecessary strain on the back or area of pain.

The sock and compression stocking aid is also suitable for compression hosiery, flight compression stockings, and general hosiery (stockings).

For a long-term solution to putting on compression socks and stockings, we recommend the EzyAs compression stocking applicator.

Independence while dressing

Putting on socks can be a challenge. The movement requires a significant bend and the hips, the leg needs to be lifted and the arms extended to reach over the foot. A moderate grip strength of the hand is then required as the foot points to manoeuvre the sock on.

Often older adults and people with disability benefit from the use of sock aids. Sock aids also support independence post-surgery or post-injury.

Independence putting on compression stockings

As a compression stocking aid, this device comes recommended to support the furthermost reach of the compression stocking over the toes. This is generally the most difficult aspect of putting compression stockings on.

Once over the foot and ankle, the compression stocking can be pulled up the leg.
