    Add extra height to a standard toilet with the adjustable toilet seat raiser. The Betterliving® adjustable toilet seat raiser adds 5cm, 10cm or 15cm to a standard toilet seat, adjustable to existing and changing needs. The armrests offer a secure hold for transfer to and from the toilet, and provide a comfortable support when seated. The armrests can be individually lifted upwards and out of the way, or removed altogether.

    The toilet seat raiser works just like a standard toilet seat. The lid and seat can be flipped up so that the bowl can be accessed without the seat.

    The toilet seat raiser is simple to install - no tools or permanent modification required. Replace the existing toilet seat with the adjustable toilet seat raiser. Basic assembly is required, similar to that of replacing a general toilet seat.

    This adjustable toilet seat raiser is not compatible with toilets that have hidden or concealed bolts, meaning the mounting bolts are not visible/accessible from the side/underneath.

    It fits to most standard toilets (as pictured), replacing a toilet seat and bolting into the existing holes at the back. The mounting bolts slide to suit the size of the toilet bowl.     What is the right height for a toilet seat raiser?

    In most circumstances, we want the feet to sit flush on the floor while seated on the toilet, the knees level with the hips. If the toilet seat is too low, the
    legs are bent at too much of an angle and the knees are not level with the hips – this can cause an uncomfortable posture and difficulty in sitting and rising.

    To determine the correct height to raise a toilet seat:

    1. Measure from the back of the person’s knee to the floor.
    2. Measure the height of the toilet porcelain from the floor (excluding the seat).
    3. Subtract the toilet measurement from the person’s knee height.
    4. The difference between the two measurements indicates the raised toilet seat height needed.

    An increase of 6cm is a common height to raise a toilet seat.

    When considering to use a toilet seat raiser, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional such as an occupational therapist to determine the most suitable toilet seat raiser and height.

    A great innovation

    It Works.

    I bought the raise toilet seat to help me after an upcoming knee surgery. We have a composting toilet so it was important to buy a seat that clamped over the existing toilet. This one does it well, allowing the exhaust fan inside the toilet chamber to continue to work properly. The seating feels stable and it is easy to clean. It has 3 height adjustments and we found the lowest the most suitable. The picture driven instruction booklet was helpful. I have a broad beam and find the seating with the arms down, snug and a little cold, but usable.

    I am thrilled with the toilet raiser I purchased here for my elderly mother. I had noticed online people complaining about seats not fitting correctly, so I was careful to do some research. I was impressed with the degree of detail in the information provided by the I dependence people. The seat fits perfectly and gives great support. My only other comment is that when I found I had to take it off and re-install at the lower height, it was very fiddly doing that on my own, balancing the seat and matching the metal parts into the holes, especially on the side closest to the wall. Mostly about my lack of skill, I’d say. Have a second person if possible to help manage that. Overall I’m very happy and would recommend this product to anyone. A quality and convenient toilet seat-raiser - and it arrived promptly in the mail. Thank you!

    Great oroduct

    Purchased for my 85 year old mother in law as she has arthritis in both shoulders and struggled to get off the toilet on her own even with a frame.
    By using the raised seat with arms we could remove the other frame and she is now able to maintain her independence and safely use the bathroom.

    Comfort at last

    After a couple of injuries I've been struggling to get on and off the toilet so we looked into getting a raised toilet seat, one with arm rests to help getting up, when we found The Independence Shop and their one. It was a bit fiddly putting it together but the difference it's made is fantastic. 10/10

    Adjustable

    Wasn't sure which height I need. Therefore, decided on this product and I'm glad I did. Bought it a few months ago and started on the lowest setting. Since last week my leg strength got worse and I changed it to the middle setting. Wouldn't have been possible with a fixed toilet seat raiser. Hope I can adjust it back soon.
