    The puzzle

    • Sudoku is a grid-based puzzle game consisting of a 9x9 grid divided into nine 3x3 subgrids or regions.
    • The goal is to fill the entire grid with numbers from 1 to 9, ensuring that each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all the numbers from 1 to 9 without repetition.

    The rules

    • Each Sudoku puzzle starts with some cells already filled with numbers. These are called "clues" or "givens."
    • To solve the Sudoku puzzle, you must fill in the empty cells with numbers so that each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid (also called a "box") contains all the numbers 1 through 9 without repeating.

    The strategy

    • The challenge of Sudoku lies in the logical deduction required to solve the puzzle.
    • Players use deduction and elimination to figure out where each number should go based on the existing numbers and the rules of the game.
